Overview
The Educational product Division is looking for an experienced Managing Editor to lead and oversee our team of reporters and copyeditors, coordinate day-to-day production of legal compliance articles, books, and web content, and participate in online and in-person training for administrators and educators.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, motivate, and oversee a writing and administrative staff focusing on providing best practices and legal compliance content for K-12 educators and administrators.
- Identify stories and manage assignments from idea generation to publication based on customer needs, trends, and analytics.
- Edit all content for print and online publication.
- Adhere to company style guidelines and templates.
- Conduct staff performance reviews.
- Traffic editorial content from websites to print products.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices.
- Be the main decision maker to ensure best in class content for newsletters, webinars, e-learning courses, and website content.
- Contribute to planning new products.
- Solicit feedback from stakeholders and potential customers to improve products and company offerings.
- Engage in troubleshooting, managing productivity, and resolving overdue tasks.
- Serve in an editorial capacity when workflow requires it or allows.
- Support other teams within the company in development of collateral for sales, professional development, marketing, correlations, and other documentation as needed.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills and an ability to constructively work with members across the team, including writers, editors, designers, programmers, and managers.
- Comfortably use a wide variety of software, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, project management software, and Google Analytics.
Position Requirements
- Proven ability to manage personnel and content
- 3 years managing an in-house editorial team
- 3 years of print and online editorial experience
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Public Relations, or Journalism
- Strong interviewing, writing, and editing skills
- The Managing Editor will report directly to the VP of Education and work closely with the production, sales, and marketing departments
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule, which includes 2 days/week in our Palm Beach Gardens, FL office
- Attending industry events as needed. This may involve travel outside of normal working hours and on weekends.
