The Application/Database Developer will work to support database and data integration efforts that support our donor management, fundraising, and operational activities. This role will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining existing/new database systems while also supporting application development and integration processes using .Net/Microsoft technologies. The Application/Database Developer reports directly to the head of Information & Technology Services.
Essential Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize relational database systems to support LSU Foundation’s data needs, including donor and financial records.
- Write, debug, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Develop and manage ETL workflows for integrating data from various sources, such as APIs, flat files, and third-party platforms.
- Monitor and maintain database security, performance, and integrity, adhering to industry best practices.
- Provide technical expertise for database-related projects and initiatives across the organization.
- Build and maintain applications using .Net/Microsoft technologies (e.g., C#, ASP.Net, Azure).
- Design and implement secure integrations with third-party APIs, cloud-based platforms, and other external systems.
- Enhance and troubleshoot existing applications and integrations to meet evolving organizational needs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Participate in project planning, requirement gathering, and technical documentation efforts.
- Assist with/fulfill data requests via JIRA Service Management
Required level/type of experience
- Strong expertise in SQL Server, including database design, optimization, and management.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools and data integration techniques.
- Experience working with APIs, flat files, and cloud-based integrations.
- Proficiency in .Net development (C#, ASP.Net, or VB.Net).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively on technical projects.
Preferred level/type of experience
- Familiarity with nonprofit CRM systems, such as Blackbaud products (e.g., BBCRM/Altru, Raiser’s Edge, Financial Edge).
- Experience with reporting and visualization tools, such as SSRS or Power BI.
- Exposure to cloud technologies like Azure or AWS.
- Knowledge of the unique needs and challenges faced by nonprofit organizations or higher education institutions.

Required education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent from an accredited college or university OR equivalent work experience

Work Environment Requirements
