What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefit Coordinator position at Lubbock County?
- Certifies, tracks and determines eligibility leave request and accommodations related to leave programs, including Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disability Act Adjustment Act (ADAAA) Military, Workers’ Compensation, Catastrophic, and State of Texas leave laws
- Ensures employees are paid appropriately while on leave
- Manages benefit premium payments while employees are on approved leave if necessary
- Serves as the first contact for leave of absence, benefit questions, new hire enrollment, qualifying events and retirement
- Conduct and develop training sessions on leave and benefit practices for supervisors and employees
- Functions as a liaison for employees and supervisors regarding protected health information and other sensitive matters
- Process new, current and retiree enrollment and qualifying event changes utilizing the benefit administration systems and vendor sites
- Ensure the integrity of the data within the benefit administration system and vendor sites
- Process payments related to the benefits programs and vendors
- Serves as the project leader for annual enrollment and required tax documents
- Lead member of the County’s wellness program
- Active member of department’s marketing and communications team
- Applies and administers HIPAA and GINA compliance to ensure confidentiality and integrity
- Other duties as assigned
