What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health Technician position at Lubbock County?
Assists with implementation and management of systems, processes, and policies set by the Director of Public Works for Lubbock County in the areas On-Site Sewage Facilities (OSSF), Floodplain Management and Stormwater. The nature of this position is generally autonomous, so individuals in this role are expected to ultimately be responsible for appropriately completing all job duties with very little oversight while operating under Public Works Department and County policies.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must frequently bend, stoop, squat, lie down, and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing from 20 pounds up to 100 pounds, such as tools and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

- Assist the with the duties and responsibilities of the TCEQ designated representative for Lubbock County by permitting and investigating OSSF as required
- Assist with performance of the duties and responsibilities as the TCEQ designated representative for Lubbock County by permitting and investigating any TCEQ MS4 Stormwater Permit requirements
- Assist with the performance of the duties and responsibilities as the designated Floodplain Administrator for Lubbock County, permitting and investigating associated issues
- Ensure all required regulatory reporting is completed accurately, approved and submitted in a timely manner
- Communicate timely and effectively with representatives of regulatory agencies and customers to resolve compliance issues and provide requested information
- Remain knowledgeable on regulatory requirements and developments
- Assist with providing appropriate environmental training
- Is available for extensive travel within Lubbock County
- Other duties as assigned
