GENERAL SUMMARY

This is a part time position under direction from the Central Intake and Outreach Coordinator, responsible for conducting outreach for home visiting and early intervention programs in Northwest Ohio as part of the statewide central intake and referral system.

Works to establish and maintain working relationships in the region that support central intake’s communication and outreach plan. Implements activities to recruit, engage and retain program participants, either directly or through referral sources. Travels throughout the region to perform assigned duties, in coordination with the Central Intake and Outreach Coordinator. Assists with local and multi-county events to increase public awareness and conduct child find. Tracks all outreach activities for monthly reporting requirements. Interacts professionally with families, referral sources, and community stakeholders using strong interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develops, implements, and updates Community Engagement Plans for each county the outreach specialist is assigned to, using the template and assistance provided by Bright Beginnings for the regional partners.
  • Tracks daily outreach activities for internal monitoring and monthly reporting to Bright Beginnings and other stakeholders.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with home visiting and early intervention contractors in Northwest Ohio in order to identify referral sources and program options available in each county and assess outreach needs.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with primary referral sources in Northwest Ohio in order to educate them about program options and changes and generate timely and appropriate referrals for home visiting and early intervention services.
  • Supports and attends outreach events carried out by local and multi-county partners to generate home visiting and early intervention referrals.
  • Ensures the availability of marketing materials for outreach events and mailings through assembly and/or ordering of materials.
  • Helps maintain home visiting waiting list by contacting assigned families to see if they are still interested in services and following up.
  • Serves as back-up to intake and referral staff as needed by processing assigned referrals including data entry in OCHIDS, EIDS, and Excel spreadsheet.
  • Maintains regular communication with supervisor about daily schedule and activities while off-site and participates in all scheduled supervision and team meetings on-site.
  • Identify any potential problem areas and report to Central Intake & Outreach Coordinator.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Beginning skill level in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. word processing, electronic spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software), email applications, and internet usage.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments.
  • Ability to maintain records and follow procedures.
  • Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with parents/caregivers, referral sources, and service providers in a personable and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently with general direction.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred, but not required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child and family studies, child development, human development, human services, or a related field.

OR

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field with a minimum of two years full-time experience working with pregnant women, children birth through age five, and their families.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with driving privileges in the State of Ohio and insurable driving record.
  • Must complete background checks including FBI/BCI.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Nature of work requires an ability to operate a vehicle, cell phone, and computer, and to travel up to two hours at a time to reach work locations during the day. Recommend reviewing auto insurance policy to ensure it covers personal vehicles used for work. Rental cars may be available for some travel, depending on County and LCFC contracts with rental car companies, availability of rental vehicles, and availability of funds. LCFC provides mileage reimbursement when use of personal vehicle is necessary, based on LCFC’s employee policies and state approved rates. Mileage rates include variable costs of operating a vehicle such as the cost of gas, oil, tires, maintenance and repairs, as well as the fixed costs of operating the vehicle such as insurance, registration and depreciation or lease payments.

Requires ability to identify, communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, and set-up and maintain work files.

Nature of work also requires in-state travel for training as needed. Occasional evening and weekend hours required for outreach activities, meetings, and professional development.

Position is grant funded and continued employment is based on availability of grant funding and satisfactory performance on the job.

Pay: $17.77 per hour

While Family Council continues to work under our temporary operations plan this position will include a combination of work from home (remote), office, and the community based on current protocols and need.

  • Driver's License in the State of Ohio (Required)
