Purpose

The Residential Intervention Specialist will provide additional supportive intervention in the placement; to alleviate the need for mental health screenings; to intervene during crisis; to provide hospital coverage during a mental health or medical emergency.

Responsibilities Include

  • Work as part of a team to maintain the safety and wellbeing of youth in residential care (residents) and CFC (Foster Care) youth
  • Implement therapeutic services and individual safety plans that are consistent with the program models and philosophy in order to meet the emergent needs of residents and CFC youth
  • Effectively provide prevention and intervention services during times of heightened emotions and behaviors in a residential or foster home setting
  • Provide hospital coverage if a youth is psychiatrically screened or requires emergency medical care
  • Report to and communicate with the On Call Placement Supervisor for shift coordination
  • Participate in agency trainings and crisis intervention trainings, supervisions as needed and scheduled
  • Ability to be flexible in location and intervention
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Provide detailed information regarding outcome of all emergency care received by a client to the team, including any documentation received from providers
  • Complete all required LUK documentation in a timely manner
  • Ability to transport youth if needed
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Comply with all contractual, licensing and safety standards
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Acquiring a deep understanding and commitment to LUK’s Mission, Vision and Values and programming and advocacy

Hours: Full time position working 3 days one week, 4 days the next week in a two-week rotation. 6pm – 12am in program, 12am – 8am on call from home, unless there is an emergency requiring in person presence.

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Associate degree, progress towards an Associate or Bachelor degree, or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years experience working in residential services
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable, registered vehicle
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care
  • Ability to handle crisis situations
  • Strong drive to provide an environment in which youth with complex pasts can thrive

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with youth that may present with challenging behavioral and emotional behaviors
  • Strong crisis management experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliable and safe transportation
  • Demonstrated ability to create meaningful relationships
  • Self-starter with great organizational skills and drive to succeed

Job Location
