Food Service/Program Aid

Description

Summary/Objective 

This position performs routine manual work relating to food distribution and kitchen  operations, distribution of supplies to classrooms, cleaning of common areas, and supporting  playground safety of an early childcare program, serving children 8 weeks old to 5 years old.  This position does relate work as required. 

Essential Functions

• Receives food daily from the food service provider. 
• Sorts and distributes delivered food for each classroom with proper food handling  requirements. 
• Completes health and safety checklists for the playgrounds daily and as required. · Monitors food items in classroom and kitchen refrigerators, ensuring cleanliness and  that expired products are disposed of. 
• Documents and ensures accuracy of nutrition-related required information for CACFP  compliance. 
• Washes cooking and kitchen utensils/tools by hand. 
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand. · Follows food safety practices and participates in regular training. · Maintains and cleans food storage areas. 
• Maintains and cleans the kitchen/break room area(s) daily. 
• Maintains inventory of baby food/formula and disposes of expired food/formula. · Updates the number of meals and milk needed with the caterer daily. 
• Collaborates with teachers to implement nutrition activities. 
• Collaborates with the nutrition team, caterer, and Nutrition Consultant for menu planning. · Posts nutrition-related materials throughout the center as necessary. · Participates in job-related meetings. 
• Collaborates with the administrative staff in distributing classroom supplies. · Performs related kitchen and cleaning duties as required and assigned. · Completes reports as required. 
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications and requirements

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three years of job-related experience in a daycare environment preferred.
