Luminator is seeking to fill our FULL-TIME Certification Engineer role to join our growing and dynamic Certification team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable of pertinent regulations, directives, standards, and guidance materials for parts certification, (i.e., FAA CFR’s, RTCA/DO-160, DO-178, Military Specifications, etc.).
  • Experience with the certification procedures for fixed wing aircraft and helicopter products and parts.  Boeing experience is a plus.
  • Experience writing qualification test plans / procedures, certification support documentation, and final qualification test reports used in the certification process.
  • Experience with qualification test set ups, qualification testing, and qualification test equipment.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in the production and inspection of products with a similar type and complexity as those manufactured by Luminator.  (See website www.luminatorusa.com).
  • Experience with quality assurance methods and techniques, including First Article Inspections, Final Assembly, Airworthiness Approvals, and Conformity inspections.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Coordinates with Defense, Space & Security (BDS) programs on behalf of the ODA
  • Coordinates with program engineering and multiple discipline organizations to ensure successful execution
  • Manages Unit Member (UM) priorities
  •  Manages certification tasks on behalf of the FAA
  • Develops Type Certification Board materials
  • Manages FAA correspondence and meeting minutes
  •  Finalizes certification issue reviews to assure proposals are ready for FAA review
  • This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location option.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance post-Start is required.

Education/Experience: 

  • 4-year degree in engineering, aviation, or a related discipline required.
  • Ideal candidate will have held any of the following FAA designations and a minimum of 5 years of pertinent experience in that designation.
  • FAA DMIR
  • FAA ODAR Designee Member
  • ODA Unit Member
  • FAA DAR
  • Must have verifiable technical references to substantiate the experience requirements above.
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  •  3 years of experience with aircraft certification

  • Physically required to regularly walk, sit, bend, twist, stand and reach in a normal office environment.
  • Constantly required to stand, walk, bend, twist, overhead lift and reach in a varied field environment.
  • The employee may occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job are close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
