A mission-driven organization, Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM) serves people in Northeast Ohio and walks with them on their road to self-sufficiency. LMM helps empower people to overcome barriers, obtain job skills, gain employment, locate safe and stable housing, access counseling and support services, stay out of prison, and secure second chances in community. Our mission is to promote shalom (peace, well-being) and justice (right relationships) through a Christian ministry of service and advocacy with those who are oppressed, forgotten and hurting.
Position Summary
The Grants Manager (GM) will play a crucial role in securing and managing grants to support the agency’s mission and initiatives. The GM will be responsible for researching and identifying potential funding opportunities, developing grant proposals and managing the entire grant lifecycle.
Some of the duties include:
- Coordinate the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals and reports to corporate, foundation and institutional funders
- Generate revenue for LMM programs through timely submission of well-researched, well written and well-documented proposals
- Create high-quality proposals, narratives, applications and supporting documents in response to RFPs
- Assist the VP in activating a comprehensive grant strategy, aligning with the agency's goals and objectives
- Verify requirements of funding opportunities when department leaders inquire or share an opportunity
- Coordinate and follow-up on the progress of pending proposals
- Coordinate with the Accounting & Finance Team to create proposal budgets
- Advocate for the agency’s mission and impact, using proposal writing skills to engage potential funders and supporters and build awareness of the agency’s work
- Work with members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to develop and submit LOIs, concept papers and grant proposals
- Collaborate with the SLT to build and maintain relationships with potential funders, identify new opportunities, and strategically pursue funding opportunities
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of grant writing experience, OR 7 years of grants management experience. The candidate must have proven experience in grant writing, with a track record of successful grant applications and securing funding from diverse sources. A strong understanding of the nonprofit sector, including familiarity with fundraising strategies, grant-making processes, and funding sources. Experience in researching, writing, and editing proposals, reports, and other fundraising materials is essential.
