Job Summary:

The Youth Career Pathways Specialist will work with refugee youth in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties to help them achieve economic independence through vocational and career advancement. The Youth Career Pathways Specialist will assist refugee youth in creating career pathways goals through Individual Service Plans and will monitor their progress towards social integration and achieving self-sufficiency. The Youth Career Pathways Specialist will match youth with a volunteer mentor who will provide the youth with personalized interaction and guidance. The Youth Career Pathways Specialist will provide case management support and ensure programmatic goals are achieved.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a caseload of thirty (30) refugee youth and provide case management
  • Provide intake and assessment for eligible youth and create an Individual Service Plan
  • Conduct outreach for program and make referrals as appropriate
  • Assign and coordinate volunteers to mentor refugee youth 
  • As appropriate and based on assessment, request financial assistance for client
  • Create and maintain accurate data records 
  • Produce and submit reports in a timely manner
  • Coordinate services with other area agencies
  • Provide career pathways counseling and program training to clients


Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent
  • Field of Study:  social work, psychology, international studies, human services or related field
