Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pet Groomer to join our team. We are a new salon and looking to build our team. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and a strong commitment to providing exceptional grooming services. As a Pet Groomer, you will be responsible for the grooming and care of pets, ensuring they look their best while also maintaining their comfort and safety. This role requires excellent customer service skills as you will interact with pet owners to understand their grooming needs.
Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and nail clipping for various breeds of dogs and cats.
- Assess the condition of pets' coats and skin to determine appropriate grooming techniques.
- Use specialized grooming tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming area, ensuring all tools are sanitized after each use.
- Communicate with pet owners about their pet’s grooming needs and provide recommendations for care.
- Handle pets with care, utilizing proper animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during grooming.
- Assist in managing appointments and scheduling for grooming services.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- At least 2 years previous experience in pet grooming or a related field is preferred but not required; training may be provided.
- Strong animal handling skills with an understanding of animal behavior.
- Experience in customer service to effectively communicate with pet owners.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when handling larger breeds or equipment.
- Background as a veterinary technician or assistant is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling during grooming sessions.
