About This Role
As a mechanical engineer specializing in mobile security units, you'll play a pivotal role in the design, development, and enhancement of mechanical systems integral to our security solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the robustness, reliability, and physical integrity of our security hardware, working in tandem with cross-functional teams to fortify our systems against potential vulnerabilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of security hardware systems, ensuring resilience, durability, and integration with electrical components.
- Oversee the prototyping and testing phases of mechanical components, ensuring alignment with security standards and system specifications.
- Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and security experts to seamlessly integrate mechanical systems into overall security architectures.
- Drive innovation in mechanical design, exploring new materials, manufacturing techniques, and technologies to enhance security hardware performance.
- Ensure all mechanical designs comply with industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Create detailed documentation, including design specifications and test reports, to facilitate collaboration and ensure traceability.
- Balance DFM, aesthetics, cost, and timeline.
- **Design portfolio required**
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive sheet metal design experience
- DFM experience with turret, press brake, laser, and panel bending systems
- Experience in product development
- Experience in UL/ETL, DOT, SAE, and other regulatory requirements
- Experience with automotive connectors and fasteners
- Experience with interlocking components
- Experience with Creo Parametric
- Experience with Creo Simulate (Live) or other FEA analysis tools
- Experience with PTC Windchill/ProjectLink
- Experience with tolerance stack analysis and GD&T
- Experience with welding callouts and design specifications
- Experience with PV Systems
- Experience with Atlassian (Confluence & Jira)
- Experience with JMP or other statistical analysis software
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and project management
