Position Title: Product Designer

Organization:  LX Hausys America, Inc.

Location: Corporate Office in Alpharetta, GA & Plant in Adairsville, GA

Reports to: Director – Surfaces Product Designer

FLSA: Exempt

Position Summary: Creating and developing new product designs and patterns for HI-MACS and Viatera as well as the Surfaces Division as a whole. Provide assistance to the Design director in tasks delegated. Aiding marketing and sales team by providing marketing resources and concepts for new products, and giving presentations internally and externally to promote new products. Supporting and mentoring for career and design growth.

Role Description:

· The creation, development, analysis, and research of new product designs and patterns for HI-MACS and Viatera. Tasks may include, but are not limited to, researching market and design trends, analyzing market trends and customer requirements, improving existing products, and collaborating with product managers and engineers.

· Generating color & pattern samples for product development and customer meetings (THD, Lowe’s, etc)

· Aiding marketing and sales team by providing marketing resources and concepts for new products, and giving presentations internally and externally to promote new products.

· Ideating for innovative production technology to enhance design and manufacturability of new products. Collaborating with technical team on executing innovative production technologies

· Collaborating with design leadership to evolve our design process to ensure we’re creating great consistent product.

· Mentoring and coaching

Responsibilities:

• Research and analyze market and design trends through tradeshows, trend-forecasting services      and trendspotting 
• Analyze competitor’s design and customer requirements.
• Gain the voice of the customer through focus studies, surveys, and customer visits
• Perform regularly competitor analysis on HI-MACS and Viatera, Teracanto
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers.
• Collaborate with HQ Design Center or external experts. 
• Assist marketing and sales team on design launch needs by sending relevant trends and creating sales tools
• Understand general and new technical manufacturing process for developing new products
• Develop design strategies and concepts.
• Develop prototypes and evaluate test samples.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers.
• Improve existing products as needed.
• Present design & trend proposal to customers at internal and external events
• Lead on outsourced designs by working with Product Management, communicate effectively with      overseas suppliers / venders, and review and evaluate lab samples and color matching
• Develop new Viatera, HI-MACS and Teracanto designs by working and collaborating with PM and engineer team, develop prototypes with new technology and evaluate test samples, develop design strategies and concepts, improve existing products as needed and analyze customer voice
• Create Design Rational and Presentations to new design launches, to support marketing and sales, and work closely with marketing and Product Management team to support for design launch needs

Requirements

Qualifications: Listed below are the minimum and/or desired qualifications of the position including education, work experience and knowledge & skills that are required to perform satisfactorily in the position:

Education and Work Experience:

· Undergraduate degree in textile, graphic, interior, industrial design or related field.

· 4 years experience in product design

Knowledge and Skills:

· MS Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

· Adobe Photoshop

· Illustrator

· Design related software programs

Physical Demands: 

· Position requires regular interaction with customers and clients.
