We are seeking a Medical Assistant in the Port Jefferson, NY area to work at an Orthopedic office in the area on a 1099 basis. You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments as needed.
- Responsibilities :
- Gathering patient information like demographics, chief complaints, past medical history, social history, and family history
- Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff
- Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures
- Escort patients to exam rooms
- Write out prescriptions for physical therapy, tests, etc.
- Prepare patient charts
- Prepare rooms for patient examinations
- Sterilize & clean instruments
- Take inventory of medical materials and supplies
- Qualifications :
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working as Medical Assistant
- Medical Assistant diploma or Certificate from an accredited school preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
