School Bus Driver Apply With or Without Experience

School Bus Drivers Requirements:

• School bus drivers can apply with or without experience; we provide training to help you earn your CDL
• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug test
• Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be able to assist students as needed

School Bus Drivers Compensation and Benefits:

• Hourly rate of $22.50 per hour after receiving Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B with Air break (A), School Bus (S), and Passenger (P) endorsements
• $250 signing bonus after receiving the Commercial Learners Permit with A, S, and P endorsement (CLP)
• $250 signing bonus after receiving Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B with A, S, and P endorsement
• $500 bonus after one year of driving
• Hourly rate of $13.25 during training
• After 3 months of driving, all employees become eligible for our 401k program

School Bus Drivers Responsibilities:

• Operating a school bus in a safe and responsible manner
• Following established routes and schedules
• Assisting students in boarding and exiting the bus
• Maintaining a safe and orderly environment on the bus
• Performing pre-and post-trip inspections of the bus
• Keeping accurate records of miles driven, fuel consumption, and any incidents or accidents

Lynwood Transportation is seeking part-time school bus drivers to join our team. This is a part-time, split-shift position, and no prior driving experience is necessary, as we will provide paid training ($13.25 an hour) to help you get started.

School Bus Drivers Additional Information:

In the 2023-2024 school year, upon completion of training, school bus drivers will start at $22.50 an hour for a double run of High School/Middle School and an elementary school in the morning and afternoon.

Some school bus drivers may run for up to 5.5 hours a day. Typically, our first school bus drivers leave at 5:30 in the morning, and the last bus returns by 9:00 in the morning. Inl bus drivers typically leave at 1:30, and our last bus returns by 5:15. Buses that leave earlier typically return earlier. Our schedule mirrors the school districts that we serve, so some weeks, we may work fewer afternoons, our first school days during the week, or the schools may have half days.
