JOB DESCRIPTION: CLASSROOM EDUCATOR
Job Title: Esthetics Educator
SUMMARY
The Classroom Educator’s primary responsibility is to create a learning environment where students can perform new skills in the classroom and gain the necessary experience for working on clients in the Student Spa. Educators are to be present and available for students, teaching them new skills and allowing them to develop competencies without the pressure of working on paying clients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure classroom readiness at all times, both as a reflection of professionalism and in order to be ready for a State Board visit at any time;
Ensure adequate preparation of all lesson plans and all materials used in lesson to ensure greatest student involvement and attention;
Begin class prepared and on time; end class on time; ensure that students take appropriate breaks; Ensure that student academic and behavioral standards are met;
Provide adequate and timely feedback on homework and tests;
Assist students in being prepared for class by publishing expectations and schedules;
Advise students timely when standards are not met; give suggestions for ways to improve written and practical skills; create and document improvement plans and follow up on progress;
Is present in the classroom and takes initiative to teach and interact with students, giving feedback (positive and negative) to students;
Monitors students throughout the day to ensure students are following State Board requirements, school protocols and standards, and are conducting proper consultation, documentation, and service standards for every service;
Monitors appropriate use of student personal work, lunches and breaks to ensure that students are engaged throughout the day and making the appropriate applied effort;
Documents student disciplinary actions and accident reports for students or clients;
Uses, promotes, and educates students and clients about the professional products in the spa;
Responsible for checking schedules on the REBC Outlook calendar, the AB Calendar, the Overall Curriculum Calendar;
Ensure proper closing of the classroom each day, including signing out students and physically checking cleanup; ensuring that all closing duties are complete;
Attends all hands and educator staff meetings
COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of:
- Principles and processes for providing excellent customer service;
- Principles and processes for completing all services within the scope of licensure, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction;
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook;
- Basic business arithmetic;
- Structure and content of the English language
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including ability to give full attention to a speaker, to ask appropriate questions, and to effectively communicate ideas in a way others will understand
- Ability to maintain positive student relationships while requiring compliance of school standards policy and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum three years of relevant experience in the spa environment
A current Esthetician license
Excellent computer and office skills
Excellent organization and preparation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Much of the work consists of conveying information verbally and in writing with students, co-workers, clients and visitors. Additionally, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following: sit, stand, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee occasionally may need to transport himself or herself for work-related reasons.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet
Employees may be subjected to chemicals commonly found in the industry
Occasional travel may be required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
