Overview
Fairview is looking for a Casual Flex Security Officer to join our security team supporting our Fairview Northland Hospital in Princeton, MN and our Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, MN.
Job Summary:
The Flex Security Officer provides for the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff, and property by responding to the needs of the community and supporting the Security Services Department in prioritizing excellent customer service standards. Proactively works to prevent theft and vandalism. May be involved in high risk events with exposure to potentially dangerous situations, requiring a range of safety precautions.
Schedule:
- Flexible Scheduling (1 shift per pay period minimum requirement)
- day/eve/night shifts
- as needed weekend rotations
Location:
Flex Casual Security Officers are expected to provide support to assigned campuses as needed without preference or bias. This expectation will be monitored and regularly reviewed by leadership

Responsibilities/Job Description
Job Expectations:
As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for:
● Surveying the hospital through patrols and posting at entrances to detect potential threats and take action to deter emergency situations and maintain a safe environment.
● Monitoring calls to Security Services, supporting as necessary, and responding with clear communication and a team-oriented approach.
● Aiding patients, visitors, contractors, and staff entering the facility and verifying their identity and permissions to enter as needed.
● Assisting in the de-escalation and/or physical control of potentially violent individuals with strength, stamina, flexibility, and critical thinking.
● Maintaining a knowledge of, and complying with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
● Providing quality care and service that is respectful of the developmental and cultural differences of populations served.
● Cultivating a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
● Documenting daily activities and safety incidents in report writing system(s).
● Other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Qualifications
Required
Experience
- Two years security or customer service or military experience, or
- Associates degree and one year of security or customer service experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
License/Certification/Registration
- Valid Class D Driver’s License and DMV record which meets Fairview Insurability requirements for assignments that require the operation of a motor vehicle.

Additional Requirements:
- Pass pre-assignment training within probationary period.
