What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Counter Sales position at M&K Truck Centers?
We are seeking a Parts Counter Salesperson to be the first point of contact for our Parts Department. This individual would perform a variety of customer service, in store marketing, promoting, advertising and stocking duties for our Mack and Volvo parts lines. This is a second shift position, 11:30 AM - 8 PM, Tuesday through Saturday (Saturday hours 7:00 - 3:30).
Essential Functions
- Read catalogs, or computer displays to determine replacement part stock numbers and prices for diesel parts.
- Determine replacement diesel parts required, according to inspections of old parts, customer requests, or customers' descriptions of malfunctions.
- Receive and fill telephone orders for Mack and Volvo parts.
- Fill customer orders from stock.
- Prepare sales slips or sales contracts.
- Receive payment or obtain credit authorization.
- Take inventory of stock.
- Advise customers on substitution or modification of parts when identical replacements are not available.
- Examine returned parts for defects, and exchange defective diesel parts or refund money.
- Mark and store parts in stockrooms according to prearranged systems.
- Catalog and categorize parts for proper placement on the stock shelves
- Ability to read and comprehend parts diagrams and a variety of parts cataloging systems
- Previous parts counter sales experience, preferred diesel experience but will train if only auto parts experience.
- Ability to train on the dealership’s computer system.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
