MA Design is hiring a Design Technology Manager for our Columbus office. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding and communicating how various Design Technologies, including BIM, will affect project workflows, deliverables, and project management throughout the firm. The primary responsibility is to coordinate and implement project standards development, implementation, and enforcement on all related BIM projects, files, and models; create, improve, and manage, all new and extant project-related content; build and execute design technology training to appropriate staff and groups and support end-users.
What you will do:
- Software - Manage software products including but not limited to incorporating new version releases and customization of the product, Manage the implementation of supporting software for BIM, evaluate new BIM related software and technologies, stay informed on best practices for use of Revit and other Design Technology and BIM software, stay informed on other BIM related software and how they work with Revit, and conduct installation and support of related BIM software
- Standards - responsible for the enforcement and maintenance of the software Template files to assure compliance with Company Drawing standards, provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions, automate routines in BIM to support standards and productivity, provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards, liaise with the Standards Committee, and assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow process and best-practices standards.
- Management - create written technology evaluations and budgets for future technology adoption that aligns with the corporate goals, chair the company's BIM working group, identify and develop power-users within the production staff, and liaise with the partner group on the state and status of BIM and other Design Technology packages in use within the company.
- Support - Provide hardware and network support as it relates to BIM production, support the BIM technology needs of our satellite office(s), troubleshoot technology issues as they relate to BIM production, liaise with the IT Department for hardware and software maintenence and management, liaise with the company's Managed Sergive Provider for any special IT initiatives, liaise with national software vendors, liaise with software developer support staff and other support channels.
- Project Interface - support project standards coordination with project teams, assist project teams in BIM project setup, create Revit families in response to project need.
- Innovation - Identify trends and business opportunities relating to BIM Evaluate and make recommendations regarding BIM software to the Partner group, investigate potential uses of BIM and other design technology platforms for Sustainable Design, Planning, Cost Estimating, Specification Management, Integrated Project Delivery, Digital Prototyping and Digital Fabrication and Modularization
- Involvement with common industry organizatiosn and conferences, such as Autodesk University, DBIA BiLT, Cincinnati Revit User Group, and local university programs
- Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions using current design technology software.
- Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs
- Mentor junior staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table:
- Required education and experience: Bachelor of Science of Architecture or Architectural Engineering; 10 years production experience in Architectural or Interior Design projects; in-depth/expert knowledge of current Design Technology Software including Revit current versions with emphasis on firm-wide management, family creation, library management; basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, Web-enabled applications, and database software.
- Preferred education and experience: Bachelor of Architecture or Masters of Architecture, Architectural Reigistration, 5 years as BIM Manager or Design Technology Manager at a similarly sized firm, 3 years providing training and support to end-users.
- Expertise in Revit, proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
- Proficient in Revit family creation, management, troublshooting, and improvement.
- Strong organization skills and the ability to work on multiple initiatives at the same time and priortize the firm's needs appropriately.
- Strong presentation skills to communicate and teach ideas and concepts.
- Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes
- Knowledge of architectural processes and project phases, permitting, and construction.
- Additional desired qualifications: Technical Writing Aptitude, Autodesk Certified Revit Professional, Proficient in python and other object-oriented programming languages and software such as Grasshopper or Dynamo
