Position Overview
As a Machinist, you will play a critical role in our manufacturing operations. This position requires a strong mechanical background, hands-on experience with manual machines, and the ability to learn CNC and operate other various equipment. You will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and maintaining precision components while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual machines and learn CNC (Centroid, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Balanstar), milling machines, lathes, balance machines, and Faro arm knowledge is a plus
- Form and shape raw castings and metal materials per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assemble components and verify tolerances using precision measuring tools.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot machinery.
- Collaborate with engineering and QA teams to resolve production issues.
- Organize and process materials and documentation.
- Operate forklifts (with training), saws, and other machining tools.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Follow job preparation procedures and complete jobs on time.
- Perform other duties as assigned and be open to learning new skills.
Essential Functions
- Follow detailed work instructions, job safety analysis (JSAs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct daily preventative maintenance and inspections.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
- Notify supervisors when materials need to be ordered.
- Adhere to all safety rules and report unsafe conditions.
- Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as an entry-level machinist with basic knowledge of manual machines.
- Completion of machine school or equivalent experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical documents.
- Familiarity with and willingness to learn how to operate manual horizontal machines and vertical boring mills.
- Proficiency in general shop math.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Basic knowledge of speeds and feeds for mills and lathes.
- Basic understanding of different materials.

Equipment Operation & Movement
- Forklift Operation:
- Mounting and dismounting several times daily using three points of contact.
- Sitting properly and wearing the seatbelt.
- Turning head to look behind while reversing.
- Ability to use and get in and out of various other types of equipment after training.
- Ladder Use – Climbing and working from ladders at various elevations.
- Stair Navigation – Going up and down stairs throughout the day.
- Working in Castings – Entering and exiting castings on machining tables to make adjustments and measurements while kneeling.
- Force Application – Kneeling and applying force with wrenches to tighten or adjust bolts.
