Learning Specialist
The Upper School Learning Specialist is a vital member of the Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) team, dedicated to supporting the academic success of upper school students. This role involves working closely with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators to provide individualized and small-group academic support, fostering skills such as executive functioning, study strategies, and subject mastery. The ideal candidate is a former middle or upper school teacher with a deep understanding of teenage learners, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for helping students navigate academic challenges with confidence and resilience.
This full-time position, available as either a 10- or 12-month role, is open for an immediate start.
Learning Specialist
· Plan and conduct individual and small group academic support for students that may include: intervention and remediation and the use of cognitive learning strategies to build executive functioning and study skills.
· Develop and revise quarterly goals for students based on student data and monitor them for progress
· Communicate frequently with parents and teachers on student progress
· Serve as an advocate, mentor, and resource for students with learning difficulties
· Provide occasional test proctoring to CAE students
· Participate in school-related professional development, growth, training as scheduled
Qualifications
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in education. Master’s degree preferred
· At least three years of experience as a learning specialist or middle or upper school classroom teacher
· Strong organizational and relationship-building skills
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing
· Positive attitude, flexible approach, and a sense of humor
Physical Requirements:
· This position is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
