What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Assistant Aug 2025 position at Mad River Eye Care?
Are you someone who thrives on helping others, enjoys a fast-paced, people-focused role, and is curious about a future in optometry? If you're looking for a meaningful job that values your time, your talents, and your growth-we'd love to meet you.
Mad River Eye Care is a doctor-owned, independent optometry practice serving the Mad River Valley for over seven years. We're proud to offer a warm, welcoming environment where patient care always comes first, and where our small, collaborative team works closely together to make each day rewarding-for our patients and each other.
We're currently looking for a full-time Optometric Assistant to join our team in beautiful Waitsfield, Vermont. This is an in-office role where you'll be actively involved in all aspects of patient care-from pre-testing and assisting with contact lens instruction, to helping patients choose eyewear and navigating the latest in optometry technology. You don't need previous experience in optometry-just a high school diploma, strong customer service skills, and a positive, dependable attitude. We'll provide the rest with paid training and hands-on support.
What We Offer:
- Starting wage of $18–$20/hour
- Monday - Thursday schedule, 7:45am - 5:00pm (hello, 3-day weekends!)
- Paid time off, sick time, and work-life balance you can count on
- Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
- IRA with employer match
- Free optometry services for you and your immediate family
- Study support and test reimbursement to pursue paraoptometric certification
We believe that great patient care starts with a happy, supported team. That's why we prioritize balance, communication, and professional growth. We're family-centered, education-minded, and forward-thinking. Whether it's new technology, new certifications, or simply learning something new every day, we're here to help you succeed-and enjoy the journey.
Our culture is built around shared values: compassion, integrity, teamwork, and a true commitment to exceptional patient care. You'll work directly with our doctors and support staff, playing a vital role in delivering thoughtful, high-quality optometry services.
If you're reliable, upbeat, and excited to be part of a practice where patient care and personal connection are at the heart of everything we do, we encourage you to apply.
