Madison Avenue Couture is a leader in ultra-luxury resale, specializing in iconic Hermès and Chanel handbags and fine jewelry. With a commitment to trust, authentication excellence, and white-glove service, we have become the largest online reseller of Hermès in the US. In addition to our ecommerce business, we operate two showrooms – one in New York and the other in Palm Beach.
We are seeking a Director of Technology who is both strategic in thinking and hands-on in execution; someone who can design smart systems and personally make them work. This candidate enjoys being integrally involved in the business and enjoys solving real operational issues.
The ideal candidate with take total responsibility for Madison Avenue Couture’s technology ecosystem end-to-end, with a focus on:
- Operational workflows (intake → authentication → photography → listing → shipping)
- Shopify and system integrations
- CRM and clienteling tools
- AI-assisted customer support (with strict guardrails)
- Data integrity, reporting, and reliability
They will have the ability to evolve and build out the company’s tech stack over time, including evaluating tools, sourcing the right partners and vendors
The Director of Technology will work closely with all departments -- Operations, Merchandising, Purchasing, Sales, Creative/Digital, and Finance
This position reports directly to the CEO
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Shopify Plus platform and existing apps
- Design and implement internal operational workflows that enforce quality and controls
- Ensure high-value, unique inventory is accurately tracked and gated at every stage
- Maintain and improve existing in-house systems and configure new systems and work flows as needed
- Troubleshoot issues, manage vendors, and fix problems quickly
- Replace manual processes with automated, system-enforced rules
- Build and maintain integrations with the company’s Shopify platform, internal databases, CRM, shipping, and marketing tools
- Use APIs, webhooks, and automation tools (Zapier, Make, etc.) to keep systems in sync
- Enable clienteling & sales by implementing and maintaining CRM and clienteling tools that the company’s sales people utilize
- Implement AI for customer Q&A and internal efficiency using approved data only and define escalation paths to human advisors
- Ensure clean, auditable data across inventory, sales, and operations
- Build dashboards and reports leadership can trust
- Maintain security, access controls, and vendor hygiene
- Protect brand tone, accuracy, and trust at all times
- Ensure that the company is positioned for growth
Background & Experience
- 8-12 years in technology, systems, or operations
- College degree
- Deep, hands-on experience with Shopify Plus and Netsuite
- Experience in inventory-heavy, high-value e-commerce or marketplaces
- Comfortable configuring systems and managing integrations
- Operationally minded and detail-oriented
- Calm, pragmatic, and solutions-driven
- Experience in luxury, resale, jewelry, collectibles, or high-AOV retail is a strong plus
Compensation
- Base Salary: $130,000 – $180,000 (commensurate with experience)
- Bonus: Annual bonus based on company and individual performance
- Benefits: Medical, dental and vision insurance, gym membership partially paid by company, matching 401(k)
- In Midtown Manhattan office three to five times a week
