Position Overview
This is skilled customer service work which follows well-established procedures. Employees in this class are responsible for the performance of clerical tasks which can be readily learned by training on the job, requiring reasonable judgment in their execution. Detailed instructions are given at the beginning of the work and on subsequent new assignments. However, as employees become familiar with the particular procedures, they may work with independence of action on the more routine aspects of the work. Advice is given to employees on unusual problems and on new assignments by their supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Interacts with Water Customers in a positive manner dealing with payments, requests for service, leak reports, complaints and other issues.
- Receives payments and makes entries into billing software.
- Using billing history, meter readings history and current meter readings, analyze meter usage for unusual activity. Contact customers to discuss unusual activity.
- Maintains various types of records and files.
- Answers phone and provides general information, discusses account information with Customers, and records leak or customer complaint information.
- Assists general public and co-workers performing routine tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Employee will perform related work as required.
Education and Experience
Education and Experience
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
- Skill in the operation of common office appliances, including computer word processing and data entry.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions as required.
- Ability to accurately maintain simple clerical records.
- Ability to write legibly as required.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Needs to be able to operate office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- The person in this position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinet, office machinery, etc.
- Must be able to observe their surroundings.
- The person in this position frequently communicates in person and on the telephone.
- 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Monday - Friday
