POSITION PURPOSE
Madison Gas and Electric Company (MGE) is looking for a reliable self-starter to join our Customer Data Services team. This position assists with the operation and maintenance of our Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system, records electric and gas usage by residential and commercial customers, and performs manual meter reads and audits as necessary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates Company vehicles to drive daily meter reading and meter on and off routes.
- Uses various systems and tools to record gas and electric meter reads.
- Assists with operation and maintenance of the mobile AMR system and its associated equipment to ensure its proper operation.
- Conducts nontechnical field investigation work—re-reads, collections, address checks, audits, life support tags, etc.
- Performs various routine office functions including, but not limited to, answering customer calls, scheduling appointments, answering questions, addressing concerns, and providing field support for Inspectors.
- Initiates, sorts, handles, and executes field investigation requests as needed.
- Uploads and downloads daily route information.
- Performs system operator functions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- One to two years of related experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Able to maintain a valid Wisconsin Driver's License in good standing as determined by the Company.
- Strong ability to work across multiple computer systems and software programs.
- Proven ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to analyze and solve problems as they arise.
- Strong math skills.
Physical Requirements
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Able to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Able to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Able to work safely around moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious locations.
