Health Information Management (HIM) Lead
A HIM Lead is responsible for sorting, scanning, and indexing medical records, performing quality assurance auditing within established guidelines, and overseeing higher-level activities. Performs other duties as assigned. This position reports to the Manager of Informatics and is located in Milwaukee WI.
Responsibilities:
- Performs scanning functions on documents while maintaining integrity of batch assembly and monitoring images for completeness and legibility.
- Assists in coordination of document transportation between HIM department and clinics.
- Ensures receipt of all patient records.
- Performs verification and indexing of images for quality completeness and batch identification.
- Maintains and verifies scanned image quality checks and scanning processes.
- Communicates with staff / providers relating to HIM department inquiries.
- Demonstrates professionalism and excellent communication in the workplace.
- Maintains work area in neat and orderly manner.
- Assists with training and onboarding of new HIM staff.
- Facilitates communication and resolution of troubleshooting issues within the HIM team.
- Handles higher-level tasks such as workflow optimization and process improvement initiatives.
- Coordinates special projects or initiatives within the HIM department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications & Characteristics :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated competence in data entry and ability to work with computer applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
- One year of experience working in a medical environment including an understanding of medical terminology.
- Preferred prior experience in Health Information Management, data entry, or leading a team.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and with co-workers in a team.
