Position Overview: The Coatings Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for proactively coordinating various inventories while utilizing lean and organizational strategies.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with department managers and production leads to ensure inventory supplies are at appropriate levels.
- Manage supply costs by monitoring inventory distribution areas and holding employees accountable for appropriate usage.
- Research, implement and manage automated inventory management system for real-time inventory tracking and ordering.
- Develop, implement and oversee inventory management procedures.
- Manage stocking, optimizing, and allocating of inventory supplies with data gathered from count sheets and history.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with current and potential vendors to meet competitive cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Assist in negotiating and supervising vendor contracts and prepare pricing, product quality, and delivery policies.
- Assist the Quality Department by validating certifications and intended product usage.
- Inspect incoming shipments to verify orders are accurate, intact, and on time.
- Manage recycling and waste programs involving spent inventory.
- Maintain appearances and conditions of assigned areas / equipment and report needed repairs, safety hazards, or conditions requiring attention.
- Assist in cross-functional roles such as purchasing, maintenance, custodial, and other projects.
- Provide on-the-job training regarding proper usage and location of supplies.
- Take part in applicable ongoing training sessions, continuous process improvement programs, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starting individual with excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work under minimum supervision with latitude for independent action and decision making.
- Frequently required to stand and walk
- Capable of standing for extended periods of time and ability to handle parts ranging in size and weight, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Prioritize effectively to complete tasks with consistency and accuracy.
- Ability to develop comprehensive product, supply, and service knowledge.
- Ability to gather, organize, and effectively report information to management.
- Experience with implementing inventory management systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of F.I.F.O. and L.I.FO. inventory methods a plus.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or some coursework preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software/systems as required.
- Advance arithmetic skills (i.e., add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.
- Individual must be authorized to work in the U.S. under one of the following criteria: 1. A citizen of the United States, 2. A lawful permanent resident, 3. A non-citizen National of the United States.
Reports To: The Coatings Inventory Control Specialist will report to the Inventory Control Coordinator and regularly interface across all levels of the organization.
Hours: Standard hours for the Coatings Inventory Control Specialist are 6 AM – 2:30 PM. Must be flexible to work overtime and additional hours as needed.
