Main Market Co-op Deli is seeking a Deli manager to be a part of our team! Main Market Co-op is in downtown Spokane, and specializes in locally sourced, organic, sustainable products for our deli, bakery, and grocery store.
The Deli manager reports directly to the store general manager and oversees all aspects of the Deli, Meat and Specialty cheese Department. The Deli Manager’s key tasks are overseeing the kitchen, ensuring strong financial performance of the department, strong performance of the department’s staff, and maintaining excellent customer service standards for the department . This is a full-time, autonomous position. Primarily day shifts, however may vary depending on demand of the store. Candidates must be able to work independently and available weekends.
Deli manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Being a working manager. Overseeing all aspects of the kitchen, and using innovative and creative recipe development that encompasses sustainability and local products
- Creates, trains and maintains buying and organizational structure and strategies for the department
- Monitors and maintains margins, tracking sales, shrink and spending. Work with general manager to ensure margins are on track.
- Ensures verification of invoices for each delivery, conduct price auditing, and ensure proper receiving of orders throughout the department
- Stays true to our product standards and mission, while also maintaining consistency and availability of products
- Sees that deliveries and orders are coordinated to maximize freshness and minimize out of stocks and shrink
- Ensures proper inventory of departments within the Deli Team
- Responds to customer requests and suggestions
- Sets and meets sales goals, COGS budget goals, and labor goals.
- Review departmental financial reports and take corrective action as necessary
- Oversee training, scheduling and coaching of department staff on regular duties, safety, customer service, efficiency and store policies and procedures.
- Assists with hiring and performance evaluations
- Updates products in Catapult/ECRS (POS System), updates pricing, promotions and order numbers, and ensures complete entry of data within Item Maintenance
- Ensure shelf tags and shelf talkers, as well as other available signage, is accurate and maintained
- Conduct product and price checks of comparable deli and natural food stores
Required Qualifications:
- Current WA State food handler's permit
- Strong leadership and Culinary skills
- 1 Year Minimum Management experience
- 2 Years Minimum Kitchen Management experience
- Proven experience with Inventory Management, following and interpreting a budget, setting and correcting Margin goals, and managing a labor budget
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills, in person and on computer
- Proficient in Office Suite
- Experience POS system
- Ability to work under fast-paced, changing conditions
- Flexible and Dependable
- Ordering experience
- Strong customer service experience
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds consistently and safely
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with POS system
Wage is $21.95-$31.82/hour DOE. We offer a competitive Paid Time Off package and employee discount for goods/food purchased.
