FUNCTION
Performs a variety of services to maintain facility material condition and cleanliness. Assists operations and maintenance as required. Fulfills a variety of material handling tasks.
DESCRIPTION
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Janitorial Tasks: Performs janitorial tasks in office areas, restrooms, locker rooms, control rooms, and other facility areas on a regular basis.
- Errands: Runs errands for facility-related matters.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Cleans, preserves, and paints equipment and the facility.
- Outage Assistance: Assists operations and maintenance personnel by performing miscellaneous tasks during outages.
- Maintenance Support: Assists maintenance crews by building scaffolds, clearing areas to be worked, providing safety surveillance, and supporting job activities.
- Material Handling: Rigs and operates various material handling equipment, including forklifts, front-end loaders, bridge cranes, and trucks.
- Operational Assistance: Assists operations in the performance of operational duties as assigned, such as Crane Operator.
- Messenger and Delivery: Provides messenger and material delivery and supply services for the facility.
- Rolling Stock Operation: Operates plant's rolling stock as needed.
- Scale House/Recycling: Fills in as scale house attendant or recycle attendant, once qualified.
- Winter Tasks: Performs winter-related tasks such as plowing, shoveling, sanding, and making areas safe for driving and walking.
- Additional Duties: Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Language Proficiency: Speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Driver's License: Possess a Class “C” Maine vehicle license.
- Instructional Ability: Ability to take, follow, and give oral and written instructions.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently climb ladders; enter confined spaces; climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways at elevations of 75 feet and more; crawl through confined areas; work from manlifts; moderate to heavy lifting required. Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions; climb vertical access ladders and stairwells; work in the plant in hot conditions; must be able to wear a respirator and use other personal protective equipment and safety equipment as required.
- Lifting Capacity: Requires lifting, pushing, and pulling of 80 pounds consistently.
- Mobility: Requires walking and bending.
- Self-Motivation: Must be self-motivated.
- Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
- Educational Background: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Policy Knowledge: Possess required knowledge of Corporation policies and regulations.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with the public and maintain a working relationship with staff.
- Flexibility: Flexible with hours to perform unexpected clean-up, plowing, and filling vacant positions.
- Experience: Custodial or other relevant experience.
- Job Proficiency: Ability to perform all of the duties of the job.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.93 per hour
