SUMMARY
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment and plant facilities. This position will plan, install and repair a wide variety of complex electrical/mechanical equipment. The Maintenance Technician will work independently and with other facilities personnel to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness is accomplished. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and AUTHORITIES include the following. Others may be assigned.
- Maintain, repair and/or replace plant machinery and equipment such as HVAC equipment, machine tools, lighting, plumbing, pumps and other equipment as needed.
- Troubleshoot and repair all facility equipment.
- Install and troubleshoot electric circuits up to 480 volts 3 phase.
- Actively participate in facility safety, health and environmental programs.
- Prepare and complete work order repairs, inspections and adjustments.
- Set up and operate welders, drill press, grinder hand tools and other metal working equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to read, troubleshoot and understand blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently with little or no supervision.
- Must be able to use measuring instruments and electrical testing equipment.
- Familiar with local building code and OSHA regulations.
- Must have a good working knowledge of machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, electricity, N/C controls and building repair.
- Ability to work on aerial platforms and ladders.
- PC skills, general.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance, and/or a certified Electrical Certificate preferred, but experience may offset.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with facilities maintenance, HVAC systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and basic electrical repair.

The Opportunity
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design of controls systems for the Makino product lines, including horizontal machining centers, vertical machining centers, and transport systems. The controls designs include standard options required for the North American and South American markets, along with custom options that are required for special customer requirements. This position will be located at our corporate office in Mason, OH.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop electrical/control designs for special Makino product options and the required documentation for special options/modifications per customer request/order to accurately represent the completed designs.
- Maintain and update, from Makino Japan engineering change notices, all electrical documentation for machining center products produced by Makino.
- Provide technical support to sales/customers as required.
- Provide technical support to Field Service as required to support the products.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the local governing regulations and specifications that pertain to the Makino product lines.
- Communicate with MT on electrical technical matters concerning local products and other products.
- Work with and suggest new concepts for product/system improvements while keeping current of latest technology and the competition’s specifications.
- Keep manager/supervisor advised as to the status of all assigned projects.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
- Frequent contact with other departments of company, vendors, occasional contact with customers and upper staff.
- Interface with vendors, customers, and other Makino team members to successfully complete assigned projects and tasks.
Required Skills
- Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD or other electrical design packages utilized within the group.
- Knowledge of electrical design practices.
- Knowledge of applicable industrial electrical standards & regulations.
- Experience with ladder logic programming is desirable but not required.
- Working knowledge of machine control systems and their application to the Makino product lines.
- Able to utilize Office products: Word, Excel, etc.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective technical leadership skills to direct peer engineers on technical matters.
Education and Experience
- 2-year associate degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience is required.
