The Production Manager-Glass Mill is responsible for managing and directing all production related activities for a 24-hour shift operation. Ensures all production activities are performed safely and all company safety and environmental requirements are met. Ensures that all products are manufactured to specifications and quality testing is being performed on a routine basis by performing the following.
Essential Functions include:
- Maintains production schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
- Administers corrective action for any product not meeting quality standards.
- Works closely with employees at all levels with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manages Glass Line operations including: planning and assigning work, adjusting schedules to meet production requirements, analyzing and resolving work problems, inspecting materials to verify conformance with standards.
- Maintains production records and ensures employees are completing records correctly and timely.
- Champions pre-shift meetings with employees and supervisors. Participates in quarterly communication meetings.
- Assists with staffing for open positions, analyze and recommend manpower requirements, evaluate and trains staff by coaching, administering discipline, training and development on the job. Follows CBA bid procedures.
- Sets clear expectations and evaluates performance of shift foreman.
- Provides development opportunities to production employees through cross-training initiatives and setting clear objectives.
Knowledge, Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required. Four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred two years of successful and current experience as a production supervisor, in a continuous, high-speed manufacturing operation. Safety, production reporting activities, labor relations, policies, and procedures experience. Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office Suite.
Experience in handling large volumes of raw material on daily basis. Solid supervision and leadership skills, accompanied with interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a fast-paced environment. Experience in the development of an employee lead safety culture.
