This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the estimating and purchasing teams, optimizing processes, and driving strategic decisions that support profitable project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators and purchasers, promoting collaboration, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed, competitive project estimates and timely specialty purchases.
- Analyze project documents to determine scope, materials, labor, and subcontractor needs.
- Standardize estimating and purchasing tools and processes to improve efficiency.
- Use historical data and market trends to shape bid strategies and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Preconstruction, Project Management, and Field Operations to ensure smooth project handoffs.
- Negotiate with suppliers and vendors for competitive pricing and quality.
- Maintain a robust cost database and track project performance against estimates.
Qualifications:
- 15 years of experience in construction project management, with strong financial oversight.
- 5 years in a direct estimating role with leadership responsibilities.
- Skilled in estimating software (e.g., Autobid, Highlands, Quickpen) and Excel.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams effectively.
