Job Summary
The On-Time Graduation Coordinator/Cougars Connect supports student success by fostering the development of academic and interpersonal skills. This role involves implementing district-approved curriculum, monitoring and documenting student progress and outcomes, addressing individual educational needs, and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment. The coordinator also provides ongoing feedback to students, parents, and administrators regarding progress, expectations, and goals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
- Must hold a valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in a high school content area.
- Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and sensitivity to, the needs of a diverse student population.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, families, and school staff.
- Complies with all school laws, Virginia State Board of Education regulations, and School Board and Superintendent policies and procedures.
- Performs all duties deemed necessary by the School Board and Superintendent to support the efficient and effective operation of the school system.
- Maintains accurate and timely records and reports as required by law and School Board policies.
- Collaborates effectively with staff and engages positively with parents and community members.
- Leads the process to identify, assess, intervene with, and monitor students not on track for on-time graduation.
- Coordinates and oversees all aspects of the Cougars Connect Computer-Based Learning program at Manassas Park High School.
- Serves as the primary liaison for communication and collaboration among students, parents, and staff to develop, implement, and monitor academic success plans and interventions.
- Utilizes a variety of communication methods to reinforce student progress and identify needs for additional interventions.
- Supports the development and enhancement of schoolwide academic and behavioral intervention systems.
- Collects, analyzes, and maintains student data and documentation to assess progress and generate required reports.
- Connects students with appropriate academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support services.
- Collaborates with community organizations and agencies to provide resources for at-risk students.
- Maintains open communication with staff to assess and address student needs.
- Actively participates on the Student Resource Team (SRT).
- Partners with counselors and teachers to deliver instructional interventions, including online course recovery and other academic support strategies.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with students and families to support academic success.
- Assists students in identifying and addressing barriers to graduation, monitors progress and facilitates parent conferences when needed.
- Uses early warning indicators to identify students at risk of not graduating; creates and manages a database to track progress of individual students and student subgroups.
- Coordinates ISAEP (Individual Student Alternative Education Plan) placement and instructional services for students pursuing a GED.
- Manages online learning platforms used in the Cougars Connect program.
- Collaborates closely with Cougars Connect staff to maintain a productive and supportive learning environment.
- Maintains a system for monitoring student progress and communicates concerns to appropriate stakeholders.
- Demonstrates ongoing professional growth and participates in all meetings required or approved by the Superintendent or Principal.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal to ensure the effective operation of the program and support of student success.
- Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other staff and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls.
- Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
- Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
