Elementary Library Assistant

To assist the District Elementary Librarian and Technology staff in operating a current, organized, and welcoming library-media center in each elementary school. The primary focus of this role is supporting the daily operations of school libraries when not staffed by the school librarian. The primary focus of this role is to provide library media center access and support to students and staff when structured library classes are not in session. The Elementary Library Assistant will provide guidance to staff and students when looking for materials to support lessons, projects, assignments, and independent learning.

They will also foster the love of reading by sharing high-quality literature with students and recommending books and resources to students and staff. The Elementary Library Assistant will also help to manage volunteers in the library media center. Managing the Circulation database Assisting students with the use of ipads and Chromebooks Maintaining organization and updating of print and non-print materials and resources Maintaining a positive customer service attitude in the library-media center Preparing materials for circulation Actively attending training as specified by Administration Assisting the District Elementary Librarian and Building Principal, as directed Support and supervise students in their various uses of the library Maintain school-wide expectations for conduct and behavior in the library Support students with assignments, projects, and other learning activities Support training and implementation of library programs and events, such as author visits, book fairs, reading challenges Promote a love of learning, specifically reading, writing, speaking, and research
