What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse position at Manchester School District?
Manchester School District is looking for School Nurses at all levels. As a school nurse you will promote and maintain the health of school children, their families, and school staff through care, prevention, education, and counseling while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with professional and medical providers, municipal officials, school officials, clients, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate in Nursing or higher, plus considerable experience in school, pediatric, or general nursing
Current Registered Nurse license in New Hampshire and CPR and First Aid Certification
New Hampshire Department of Education School Nurse Certification or commitment to obtain such within first six months of hire, when required by law for position.
Valid NH Driver’s License
Specific Core Function:
Performs a variety of professional and administrative nursing duties in a school environment; performs directly related work as required.
Responsibilities of the Position:
Maintaining cumulative health records on all students assigned
Daily electronic documentation of student encounters
Verification of student health histories, including immunization records to ensure compliance with State laws.
Administering medication to students as prescribed.
Performing first aid, health screenings, assessments, and complex medical procedures.
Schedule:
Up to 8 hours per day for the school year, plus additional days to open and close the nurse’s office.
No nights, weekends, or holidays

Specified Length/Hours of Position:
This is an affiliated (AFSCME Health Union) position under the School Nurse negotiated contract, following the school calendar with additional workshop days.
Compensation commensurate with experience as stated in the contract.
