Middle School After-school Multi-Site Directors play a significant role in supporting the quality of NYC Department of Youth and Community Development and Manhattan Youth after-school programs. Middle School After-school Multi-Site Directors are responsible for the operation of after-school programming at four middle schools. The ideal candidate will have previous experience leading middle school programs in some or all of the following areas: STEM; theater, film and other media; and sports.
This is a full-time permanent position. Regular daily hours of work are Monday through Friday, 10am-6pm.
Responsibilities
- Oversee program development and creation of new after-school programs
- Collaborate with recruiting department and Site Directors to hire after-school staff
- Supervise four middle school Site Directors, provide feedback and evaluation
- Work within middle school budget and budget controls
- Orient and train staff members including highlighting process and learning opportunities, maintenance of DYCD online, and best practices in managing relationships
- Lead staff meetings and professional development opportunities
- Ensure staff remain compliant with DOH and DOE requirements
- Maintain open communication with school principals and collaborate on new programs
- Ensure Compass programs have a protocol to evaluate programs activities and staff, and to identify best practices and areas in need of improvement
- Maintain daily communication with Manhattan Youth Executive Director, Associate Executive Director and Budget Director
- Four year college degree in education or related field
- Effective administrative, reporting and evaluation skills
- Proven experience with curriculum development, lesson planning and implementation of structured programming for students in middle and/or elementary school
- 3 years-experience as a director of an after-school program
- Teaching credentials and some teaching experience preferred
- Proven competence in the arts or sports a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for budgeting
- Ability to oversee DYCD Connect portals and install work scopes for programs
