POSITION SUMMARY
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will lead the development and execution of company-wide safety and environmental programs across all Manner Polymers locations, including our corporate and manufacturing facility in McKinney, TX, and our manufacturing site in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. This newly created position will serve as the central authority for all EHS activities, driving consistency in safety practices, maintaining regulatory compliance, and fostering a proactive culture of risk mitigation and environmental stewardship. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the EHS Manager will collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations, warehouse, and laboratory teams to implement and oversee a comprehensive EHS strategy. This role requires travel of up to 25%.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and lead a unified EHS program aligned with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
- Serve as the primary advisor on all environmental, health, and safety matters company-wide.
- Develop and deliver job-specific training programs to enhance employee awareness and compliance.
- Maintain documentation and training records to meet audit and legal standards.
- Monitor and interpret relevant OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state-level regulations.
- Ensure ongoing compliance through periodic reviews, audits, and corrective actions.
- Lead incident reporting and investigation protocols with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits across all departments.
- Review and update emergency response plans, conduct drills, and ensure proper equipment readiness.
- Partner with teams to identify and address hazards through risk assessments and workplace evaluations.
- Support 5S and lean initiatives to improve safety, workflow, and organization.
- Oversee proper storage, labeling, and handling of chemical materials.
- Ensure DOT compliance for company drivers and trailer safety.
- Monitor respirator use, spill response procedures, forklift operations, and racking systems.
- Coordinate hazardous waste contractor support and ensure safe disposal practices.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols for XRF equipment.
- Assess ventilation and skin exposure risks in chemical handling areas.
- Develop safeguards around thermal hazards.
- Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, training, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Present findings and metrics to leadership for continuous improvement planning.
- Perform other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing or chemical environment.
- Experience with OSHA 1910 standards, hazardous materials handling, and industrial safety programs.
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification (OSHA 10 accepted with willingness to obtain 30)
- Additional certifications (e.g., HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, DOT Hazardous Materials) preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, DOT, state/local agencies).
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and training facilitation skills.
- Proficient in conducting audits, risk assessments, and root cause investigations.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence safety culture at all levels.
