POSITION SUMMARY: Overall responsibility and authority for day-to-day operations of Toolroom. Coordinate departmental interface; oversee all aspects of operation. Supervise Department. Work closely with Engineering, Production, Sales and Accounting to ensure profitability of company and compliance with all governmental, state, local and customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate tooling projects in toolroom. Approve, maintain and update schedule, assign work to tool makers based on availability and skill level.
- Support production department by overseeing and managing troubleshooting of all die repair and maintenance.
- Provide information required to complete work.
- Purchase required tooling material for jobs.
- Resolves manufacturing problems by conferring with management, engineering and quality personnel.
- Represent toolroom at all production meetings and other meetings as scheduled from time to time.
- Recruits and interviews applicants; authorizes overtime; communicates and enforces expectations; recommends pay adjustments; manages performance; provides coaching and counseling; and following up on work results. Recommends dismissal and promotions.
- Support and maintain a clean work environment.
- Perform all duties of tool & die journeyman as needed.
- Supports product development and improvements by reviewing new product plans; discussing equipment needs and modifications with others; coordinating activities of workforce to ensure objectives are met.
- Solves routine and complex problems relating to quality, material, machine malfunctions and employee matters. Confers with management as needed to resolve problems; communicates unresolved issues to appropriate personnel for solution.
- Act as role model to employees providing honest, positive guidance while supporting company policies.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to department and company goals and mission by initiating continuous improvement, accomplishing related results as required and working effectively with other employees and departments.
- Maintains acceptable attendance standards by reporting to work every day as expected and scheduling time away in advance of absence when necessary.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Other duties as required to meet company goals as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & COMPETENCY
- High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of Journeyman Tool Maker training through accredited institution such as TMA.
- Ability to pass company ISO, English and Math tests.
- OSHA required training in Lock-out / Tag-out, Hazard Communication, PPE and Emergency Evacuation.
- In-house technical training on assigned machines and equipment.
- Ability to effectively convey written and or verbal instructions to staff.
- Knowledge of all department machines, equipment, processes and documentation.
- Proficient in Blueprint Reading and use of measuring equipment.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stamina to work all assigned hours.

- 20/40 required vision with or without correction.

- Ability to stand and or walk 100% of the workday.

- Ability to work in a shop environment - continuous exposure to potentially hazardous metal working machinery and equipment, loud noises, dust, mist, oils and solvents.
Salary : $42,100 - $53,300
