Your Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Lead Platform/Security Architect to join Manulife’s Global Wealth and Asset Management Enterprise Architecture team. The role will push forward GWAMs Cross-Enterprise architecture vision by creating guidance and mechanisms that enable the company to think firm-wide when considering capabilities development. You'll work closely with business, product, and technology partners to translate long-term objectives into designs that fuel firm-wide reuse and convergence.
As a Platform Architect you will drive the cloud and application security architecture strategy in Manulife’s Global Wealth and Asset Management business in order to develop the target state architecture to enable the vision and evolution of security practices for the firm. You will work closely with our GWAM IT Risk and Cybersecurity teams in improving the maturity of the practices within third-party and originally developed software solutions.
The Architecture team within the Enterprise Architecture organization is responsible for defining the building blocks and target-state cross-enterprise vision that helps GWAM avoid duplication and optimize architecture. What you’re good at
Collaborating with Product, Risk, Cyber and Technology teams to craft secure application architecture programs and patterns that enables business and technology vision.
Understand complex modern and legacy integrations and business information models to ensure integrity and a strong security profile
Enterprise security and specifically developing large enterprise solutions with respect to developing security controls, methods to mitigate security risks
Leading application security practice including threat modeling, risk assessment, architecture risk to ensure the NFRs are identified and controls/requirements are required to mitigate these risks
Participating in or leading in producing conceptual, solution, and component-level architectures and associated artifacts.
Key member in supporting the evaluations of third-party suppliers, products and solutions with a focus on the security aspects of the solutions
Reviewing, advising, and providing feedback on architectures produced within and outside the team
Developing reference architecture and reference implementation patterns related to security solutions
Contributing to or leading definition of standards, guidance, and points-of-view that enable engineers to thrive and cross-enterprise thinking to become the norm.
Helping to develop new and revising governance processes to ensure alignment of a diverse set of technology projects with the enterprise target state vision.
Presenting architecture and innovative ideas to executive leadership for the purposes of alignment and key decision making
What you have
8-10 years of relevant experience
Ability to own architecture and influence strategic direction and vision for the future.
Ability to analyze the information flow and recommend appropriate technology to support the business process
Experience and knowledge of security functions (AuthN, AuthZ, Transport Security, Secure Configuration, Data validation/sanitizations, security exceptions logging)
Knowledge of Vault capabilities and Security Incident and Event management systems
Experience with Threat modeling and secure testing methodologies
Good judgment and the ability to handle high pressure situations.
Experience with and knowledge of common data Architecture patterns (e.g. multi-source and multi-destination, Event sourcing, Real-time streaming etc.).
Experience addressing operational and non-functional concerns (e.g. horizontal & vertical scalability, performance, maintainability, load distribution, resilience, recovery, security and privacy).
Experience with Cloud Native (12-Factor) Architecture and Infrastructure Patterns.
Ability (and preference) to work in an Agile environment.
A strong software engineering and/or architecture background is required.
