What are the responsibilities and job description for the Neighborhood Helper position at Maple Springs?
The Neighborhood Helper at Maple Springs assists with maintaining a clean environment, within the community, transportation of residents, assists with meal preparation and set up, and provides meaningful activities. This position may serve as a resident companion to promote safety in situations where direct observation is needed. The purpose of this position is to augment cooking, dining, housekeeping, and non- clinical functions. This position works directly with residents, families, and providers.
Essential Functions

- Performs housekeeping functions to maintain a clean, safe, and home-like environment.
- Transports residents to activities, events, and meals.
- Provides companionship to residents who may need additional support for emotional comfort and safety.
- Upon completion of a state approved training program, The Neighborhood Helper assists residents with meals, snacks, hydration per CMS regulations.
- Answer call lights and refer direct care requests to trained and licensed personnel.
- Retrieves, cleans, and returns equipment.
- Stocks supplies.
- Adheres to the safety policy and procedures.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
Licenses and Certifications
Licenses, certifications, and Registrations must be unencumbered and valid in the state(s) of hire and wherever care is delivered.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate within 30 days of hire
- Food handlers’ card within 30 days of hire
