Compound Manager

Who We Are: MapLight Therapeutics is a clinical stage biotech company that focuses on drug discovery for central nervous system disorders. We combine cutting-edge technologies including optogenetics, in vivo physiology, and spatial transcriptomics to identify novel drug targets and develop effective therapies to address psychiatric symptoms.

What You’ll Do: We are looking for an experienced and diligent Compound Manager to oversee the organization, tracking, and logistics of our expanding small molecule library. This role is critical to ensuring high-quality, efficient compound workflows that support internal research and external collaborations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in compound management, inventory systems, automated processes, robotic instrumentation, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement robust processes to improve efficiency, traceability, and compliance within compound management workflows
• Oversee and maintain the compound library, ensuring accuracy, quality control, and timely availability of small molecules for internal and external projects
• Facilitate compound retrieval and distribution in support of biochemical, cellular, and in vivo assay needs
• Coordinate compound shipments by interfacing with CROs, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure secure and timely delivery
• Identify and deploy automation tools to scale up compound processing and throughput, in alignment with lab and project goals
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to data integrity by adhering to best practices in compound tracking and documentation
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
• 4 years of experience in compound management or related lab operations in the biotech/pharma industry
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on improving process efficiency and reliability
• Excellent communicator with a solid cross-functional understanding of drug discovery operations
• Hands-on experience with LIMS software and compound inventory platforms
• Experience with high-throughput screening workflows, lab automation, and compound logistics
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach
