POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides industrial hygiene technical and professional support for the refinery’s Industrial Hygiene Program. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and MPC standards. The position is also responsible for developing, designing and implementing continuous improvement measures to reduce occupational industrial hygiene risk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under direct supervision, provides technical support regarding industrial hygiene.
- Under direct supervision, participates in industrial hygiene field studies related to worker exposures, including, but not limited to, air and noise sampling, illumination, ventilation, radiation, heat stress, and other studies as appropriate to level of expertise.
- Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data derived from workplace monitoring to assess nature and magnitude of employee exposure to workplace hazards as well as adequacy of existing controls.
- Participates in investigations of occupational health-related incidents.
- Delivers training and education programs.
- If refinery based, supports projects by providing industrial hygiene/personnel exposure control information to ensure process-related health risks are identified and addressed.
- Maintains industrial hygiene equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum undergraduate in industrial hygiene or close related discipline such as occupational safety or environmental/public health required.- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ industrial hygiene experience required
- Experience in refining or petrochemical industries preferred.
