Job Overview
Marble Trail Financial, headquartered in historic downtown Middlebury, is seeking a full-time, motivated Tax Associate who is ready to apply their knowledge of financial terms and principles. The Staff Tax Associate will work as a member of the tax team, assisting with a wide range of duties including, but not limited to, helping with the preparation of tax returns, managing client communications, maintaining concise records, and staying up to date with tax laws. This is a full-time (40 hours a week with additional hours required during tax season), exempt position with in-office/hybrid flexibility available. Responsibilities
- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, and non-profit tax returns
- Provide excellent customer care
- Ensure the privacy of each client by following all company procedures regarding information handling
- Utilize technical accounting skills to handle complex tax issues
- Use accounting software to input and manage financial data
- Perform clerical duties related to tax preparation, such as organizing documents, and data entry
- Conduct research on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Support in the preparation of financial statements and reports
Skills:
- Understanding of data processing applications including general ledger, spreadsheet, word processing, time and billing, or willingness to learn such skills
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to problem solve
- Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in accounting or related field
- Currently in the pursuit of a CPA license or EA designation is not required but a plus
