JOB TITLE: Recycle Yard Sorter

LOCATION: Santa Barbara

Full-Time Hourly: $18.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sorter is responsible for sorting materials such as organic material and general debris in the recycling yard.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

• Manually sort material from conveyor and into designated bins.
• Empty sorted material containers as needed.
• Assist coworkers as needed with heavy or bulky items.
• Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Attend weekly safety meetings.
• Ability to adhere to work schedule.
• Must be flexible to work early and late hours depending on workload.
• Completes special projects as may be assigned and prioritized by the on-site manager.
• Comply with OSHA regulations when using hazardous chemicals on company premises; comply with company safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Must be capable of learning specific sorting and material handling procedures.

• Ability to stand for eight plus hours per day.
• Must be able to communicate and understand instructions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be dependable, self-motivated individual.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Education not required
• 6 months of relevant work experience

Required to put on protective outfits, like gloves, safety footwear, safety eyeglasses, earplugs, and hardhat.
