Job Summary
GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new role! This position provides journey-level electrical work which may include installing, troubleshooting, inspecting, maintaining, altering, and repairing Electrical lines, service panels, equipment, and preventive maintenance.
Essential Functions
30% - Performs journey-level inspections, repairs, installations, service, and maintenance of electrical systems including conduits, duct systems, light and power circuits, motors, generators, transformers, control equipment, switches and other types of electrical lighting and power components
20% - Prepares and adheres to a schedule of periodic electrical system inspections and preventative maintenance; develops and maintains specifications for electrical systems and equipment
20% - Performs cabling and wiring as necessary for the installation of computers and other equipment; computes loads requirements against available power sources, checks blueprints on new construction and remodeling to identify possible electrical maintenance problems; servers as electrical inspector of systems and equipment installations
20% - Troubleshoots electrical problems of equipment, systems and components; performs electrical system redesigns and reconfigures; plans and estimates costs of special projects, maintains records, logs and system documentation; requisitions electrical supplies and materials
10% - Cleans up after work is completed; performs general maintenance work; performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and (4) four years of experience as a journey-level electrician.
*There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.
Desired Qualifications
- Five (5) or more years' experience performing electrical work in a commercial, educational or industrial complex to include installation, repairs and replacement of existing components.
- Five (5) years' experience developing and/or monitoring comprehensive preventive maintenance programs. Includes switch gear, transformers, emergency lighting and distribution systems.
- Five (5) years' experience problem solving complex electrical system issues.
- Five (5) years' experience working from blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
- Five (5) years' experience leading other journey level electricians and training apprentices
- One(1) year experience with a computerized maintenance management or work order system
Special Working Conditions
- Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:
- May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
- May be required to work evenings and weekends
- May be required to lift or carry up to 50lbs.
- Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.
- Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions
- MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
