Job Summary
Performs routine grounds maintenance/gardening tasks and assists with assigned construction and landscaping activities for the maintenance of grounds, garden areas and public outdoor spaces. Installs, repair and adjust sprinklers, valves, drip systems and irrigation controllers. Flood irrigation for Rose Gardens, Athletic Fields interior campus lawns.
Essential Functions
40% Turf maintenance; 5%-fertilization & Weed control, 20%-mowing, 5%-core aeration, 5%- scalping & overseeding, 5%-line trim along curbs, sidewalks and irrigation boxes.
30% Irrigation; 5%- Program irrigation controller, 20%-adjust/repair sprinklers & drip systems, 5%- run flood irrigation.
20% Maintaining landscaping; 5%-manual weed control, 5%-raking debris, 5%-trimming shrubs, 5%-lifting low hanging tree branches.
10% equipment; mowers, edger's, line trimmers, tractors, dump truck, utility vehicles
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Desired Qualifications
A. Valid Arizona Structural Pest Control applications certification in ornamental turf
B. 2 to 3 years in landscape maintenance at an educational or municipality facility
C. A valid class D Arizona Drivers License
D. One (1) or more years of experience with the operation and maintenance of groundskeeping tools and equipment
E. One (1) or more years of experience with installation and/or repair/maintenance of commercial irrigation systems
F. One (1) or more years of experience with flood irrigation
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:
Possession of a valid Arizona Pest Control application certification in ornamental and turf
Required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs
Exposed to herbicides and fertilizers
Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions
Travel to other campus locations
