SUMMARY: The Summer Camp Assistant supports the Youth Program Manager with all aspects of Marin Humane summer camp. They will work directly with the summer camp staff, campers and volunteers, both teen interns and guest speakers while assisting in all aspects of the camp sessions. They are responsible for working collaboratively with Marin Humane staff and volunteers and supporting the mission, goals and philosophy of Marin Humane.

HOURS/SCHEDULE: Full time/Temporary/Seasonal

SALARY/CLASSIFICATION:  $17.73/hr to $19.69/hr – non exempt

Summer Camp 2025 schedule

June 16- August 1

Usual hours 8:30am – 4pm – Monday through Thursday. One week is ½ day camp

Mandatory training June 16-18

Camp prep June 19-20

June 23-26

June 30-July 3

July 7-10

July 14-17 (half day camp)

July 21-24

July 28-July 31

Camp clean up August 1st

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PREPARE AND ASSIST WITH SUMMER CAMP:

• Assist in camp preparation, clean-up and break-down of classroom and activities
• Handle animals as part of camp activities
• Assist campers with projects and lead games
• Help foster a humane understanding and compassion of animals for campers

SUPERVISE CAMPERS

• Provide daily support to campers to ensure their safety and rule compliance
• Help provide classroom management during activities and guest speakers
• Assist with supervision of camp during lunch and snack break and facilitate outdoor activities ensuring the safety of the campers
• Report any problems that arise with campers to Youth Programs Manager
• Assist with daily check in and pick-up of all campers

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT

• Assist with leading and supervising interns
• Assist volunteer guests

CUSTOMER SERVICE

• Understand, support, and accurately communicate policies and philosophies to the public in a positive and effective manner
• Demonstrate excellence in customer service by providing courteous, prompt and responsive service
