Position Overview & Responsibilities 

The MCV Maintenance Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring the effective planning, scheduling, and execution of all preventative and corrective maintenance activities that occur at MWCC’s MCV shore base located in Ingleside, Texas. The role will enforce the safe execution of work management principles on daily activities which are associated with MWCC equipment, ensuring that the right type and frequency of preventative maintenance is being performed and that work execution is done in accordance with MWCC’s workflow management process within SAP and the WorkSafe electronic permit to work process.  This position will also oversee larger maintenance projects/work to ensure work is performed in a safe and efficient manner that meets or exceeds OEM requirements.  This position will be MWCC’s shore base subject matter expert on all equipment being stored at the shore base, especially the Rotating Turret Module (RTM) and the Viking Life Saving Equipment (VENOC).  The Maintenance Superintendent will also provide daily technical support for the WorkSafe electronic permit to work system and the SAP maintenance management system and will process all shore base related Surf and MCV Maintenance Change Requests (MCRs).  Some travel will be required between shore bases and Houston HQ for effective implementation and execution of job duties. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety leadership and functional oversight of MCV Shore Base maintenance work.
  • Responsible for collaboration with Operations and Logistics teams to establish MCV preventative and corrective maintenance activities, and sparing strategies for all shore base equipment.
  • Provides oversight and direction to maintenance contract resources at MCV.
  • Collaborates with the MWCC Maintenance Manager and the Senior Field Superintendent to ensure that maintenance work is performed efficiently and effectively.
  • Stewards’ community relations activities with Ingleside High School 

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: 

  • Responsible for enforcing safe work practices and business delivery requirements at the MWCC shore base.
  • Responsible for safe and efficient performance of contract maintenance staff assigned to MWCC shore base.
  • Ensure essential shore base contractor’s capability and readiness via scheduled and unscheduled assessments, feedback and other appropriate methods.
  • Support development and implementation of MWCC’s Operations Excellence System (OES) and maintain strong ties to the HSE organization to facilitate daily shore base activities.
  • Responsible for investing time in individual learning and development to enhance own leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with all MWCC functional teams in preparation of any new or revised Integrity Critical Maintenance procedures.
  • Analyze and evaluate maintenance procedures to improve the maintenance delivery and maintainability, reliability and efficient operation of the equipment.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as assigned such as, trouble-shooting problems, ensuring good housekeeping, environment protection, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all contract resources used for maintenance work execution are appropriate in number and capable of performing their intended work.
  • Work with MWCC leadership and the Senior Field Superintendent to oversee the performance of the Shore Base Contract Leadership to ensure safe, efficient and effective work execution.
  • Responsible for closely collaborating with the MWCC Maintenance Manager to ensure cost is controlled and closely monitored to ensure that maintenance work is within budget, highly efficient and effective.
  • Responsible for closely collaborating with the MWCC Senior Field Superintendent, who is responsible for the shore base work execution schedule, to make certain that maintenance activities are properly resourced, planned and scheduled on a prioritized basis. 
  • Will occasionally fill-in for the Senior Field Superintendent during their absence. 

Response Specific Responsibilities

Below are the responsibilities for this position related to and during the timeframe MWCC is activated to respond to a well control incident in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. In the event of MWCC activation, the Maintenance Superintendent at the MCV Shore Base will fulfill the role of Surf Mobilization Technician and will relocate to the Surf Shore Base in Theodore, Alabama, unless otherwise assigned.  

  • Work as a member of the MWCC Emergency Response Organization in assigned role upon activation or drill, in response to a well control incident and perform job duties commensurate with the assigned role.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and commitment to operational excellence and readiness to respond to a loss of well containment.
  • During activation, supports the Deployment team during the mobilization of Surf equipment.
  • Upon activation and once the Modular Capture Vessel(s) depart for extended flowback mode, this position will go offshore to support commissioning and will likely continue to either work offshore on a rotational basis or as needed to direct and supervise activities of MWCC’s contract maintenance crew(s) in the field.  

General Background, Qualifications, & Experience 

  • Associate degree in a technology field or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10 years managing, developing and executing maintenance management programs in oil and gas operations.
  • Basic understanding of oil and gas subsea and topsides production operations.
  • Must be well versed in the SAP Preventative Maintenance module and the Prometheus scheduling tool, as well as an electronic permit to work system such as WorkSafe (RelyOn).
  • Strong working knowledge of planning tools such as Microsoft Project, Word and Excel
  • Strong working knowledge of OPEX and CAPEX budgeting
  • Working knowledge of Bureau of Safety Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and United States Coast Guard (USCG) regulatory requirements for the testing and inspection of offshore producing facilities.
  • Working knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS) framework.
  • Visibly demonstrate a commitment to safety and operational excellence through values of safety, integrity and excellence.
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of maintenance management systems and maintenance practices. 
  • Must have a sound working knowledge of risk, performance and condition-based monitoring techniques and analysis.

  • General Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls  knowledge
  • Experience in root cause analysis.

Travel: 15% (Domestic) 

Schedule: Eligible for 5/40, 9/80, or 4/10 schedule

Employees with duties requiring potential work offshore may be required to pass periodic offshore fitness-for-duty assessments.
