What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Manager position at Marriott Phoenix Resort Tempe at The Buttes?

This position is for the Marriott Phoenix Airport, a newly renovated corporate hotel with 18,000 sq ft of meeting space and 346 guest rooms.

Summary Of Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Together with the DOS, leads and manages all sales operations and oversees activities of the junior sales management team.
  • The key objective of the Senior Sales Manager is to grow incremental and new sales for the business while simultaneously reducing customer turnover.
  • Solicit group business through action plan preparation and execution.
  • Ensure the achievement of sales objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
  • Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service.
  • Ensure prompt and courteous service is extended to both internal and external customers.
  • Establish parameters and quotes and negotiate prices, confirming by written contracts.
  • Participate in tradeshows, conventions, and promotional events within the hotel and trade-related organizations, as required.
  • Maintain accounts, contact, activity, and business details within the appropriate software applications.
  • Work closely with Catering and other departments.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, as required.
  • Balance operational, administrative, and colleague needs.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous Sales experience is required.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Windows applications and or relevant computer applications required.
  • CI/TY experience preferred
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly responsible & reliable.
