What are the responsibilities and job description for the NURSING SUPERVISOR - MARSHALL INTERNAL MEDICINE position at Marshall Health?
Job Responsibilities :
- Directs and supervises nursing personnel in accordance with department, governmental and other regulatory standards.
- Participates in development of departmental goals and objectives.
- Updates and maintains department's nursing procedural manual.
- Assists in the selection, training / orientation, and performance evaluation of nursing personnel.
- Designs work schedules, hours and duty assignments.
- Ensures all areas and sites are following Joint Commission and CMS standards.
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician's examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance within the scope of the nursing standards.
- Maintains and assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Handles telephone inquiries from patients regarding test results, medications and treatment instructions as directed by the physician.
- Arranges for hospitalization, referrals, or performance of special procedures for patients.
- Maintains a clean, attractive work area and keeps clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies.
- Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments, surgical trays, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Education : Graduate from a school of nursing as a Registered Nurse. CPR certification required.
Experience : 2-5 years of supervisory / management experience preferred.
